Messing with photoshop

Today we started using Photoshop. I started with a simple picture of a gecko pasted onto a A4 page which was taken from Google, got the largest image and pasted it to Photoshop. Next, I selected its eye with a clone stamp tool and pasted it above the geckos nose. I did this again a second time to create the top image by also using different layers. I also used a smudge tool to blend the eyes more into the skin as well as an air brush to make it seem more realistic.

The next image was of a middle aged man with three eyes and a mouth on his forehead. Unfortunately, this image did not save.  I used a blur tool and a range of brushes such as an air brush so the edges of the mouth and eyes weren't too sharp and jagged.

The image below was created by using the same male from the previous photo. I gathered a range of other images (shark, dog ears and dog nose.) I replaced the mouth on his forehead with his eye, using a blur tool to make edges not as sharp. I then blacked out his eyes by using a black air brush to add a creepy, hollow eye socket effect. I then added what looks like blood dripping from the eye sockets and his mouth, again, to add a freaky effect to the picture. I did this by using a thinner air brush, drawing blood streaks at random. After, I used my god picture for the nose and ears. By using a wand tool, I erased the back ground and placed the images where I wanted them on different layers. I used a blur tool to merge the ears with the males head/hair to make it look like it is almost natural. Though I used a smudge tool to blend the nose with the skin. It didn't work as I expected but it shows me what i need to improve on.
I believe this images tie in with the 'Freaky or Unique' theme as they don't seem natural. The gecko seems like a 'freak of nature' and the mash of animals and humans is serial. The image of the male itself is unnatural a considered 'unusual' to most. Therefore I feel that my three images fit the theme of 'Freaky or Unique.'

Advertising Theory

Today me and three other classmates created an advertisement for a digital camera. Our target audience was students and our advertisement was to be published on a taxi.
We found the timing difficult, so in future I know to manage my time more efficiently to get better results and for an over all better presentation.
We decided that the camera should have the name 'Cameri', replacing the 'a' in camera with an 'i' to give the public a general idea of what we are selling. We chose this name as it sounds catchy as well as easy to remember. We also decided that the slogan/tag line would be "What you've been missing" as it's short, snappy and to the point. It might also get our audience thinking, persuading them to buy it as they would be missing out otherwise.

However, the first task on finding which company had which slogan proved difficult, it helped us with coming up with our own tag line. It gave us an idea on what type of slogan is most remembered. We found that majority of slogans are simple, short sentences, they also hinted/corresponded with the company name what they were selling.

Although the final design for our advert was rushed, we learned what they key factors were when making a good advertisement. Overall, I think today was a success!

Artist: John on tumblr. (Possibly a student)
Inspiration: A French RPG game named OFF.
How can inspire/help me: It shows me which colours go well together and how the perspective of the picture makes a difference. As well as showing a eye catching angel which shows the most creepiest part of the picture.
Artist:Jamie Hewlett
Inspiration: Looking at other artists work.
How it can inspire/help me: By giving me an idea for a possible art style and how to set out characters (if i have any) to look more interesting. It also shows me how to set out the page to make if interesting but not too compacted.
Artist: Edward V'kanty
Inspiration: A horror film from 1999 (Chucky (childs play))
How it can inspire/help me: It gives me an idea of what type of "freaky" content i should include in whatever product i make. Either advertisement or a poster ect.
